Kobayashi Group

About us

Kobayashi group investigates electronic structure of functional electronic materials using synchrotron radiation spectroscopy. Purposes of the research are to figure out the origin/mechanism of the novel quantum properties and to find fundamental indicators for material design.

Research subjects

  • Origin of ferromagnetism in ferromagnetic semicondutor
  • Electronic structure of ferromagnetid semiconductor quntum well
  • Electronic structure of interface/surface states of transition-metal oxide
  • Magnetic and electronic states of ferromagnetic oxide thin film
  • Interface state of topological insulator/ferromagnet

and other electronic materials.

Experimental Method

We study electronic structure of materials using synchrotron radiation spectroscopy.

  • Photoemissoion spectroscopy (PES)
  • Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES)
  • X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS)
  • X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD)
  • Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS)
  • X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS)
  • Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method for thin film growth
