About us
Kobayashi group investigates electronic structure of functional electronic materials using synchrotron radiation spectroscopy. Purposes of the research are to figure out the origin/mechanism of the novel quantum properties and to find fundamental indicators for material design.

Research subjects
- Origin of ferromagnetism in ferromagnetic semicondutor
- Electronic structure of ferromagnetid semiconductor quntum well
- Electronic structure of interface/surface states of transition-metal oxide
- Magnetic and electronic states of ferromagnetic oxide thin film
- Interface state of topological insulator/ferromagnet
and other electronic materials.
Experimental Method
We study electronic structure of materials using synchrotron radiation spectroscopy.

- X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD)
- Resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS)
- X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS)
- Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method for thin film growth
